POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) _ A Poughkeepsie-area man admits he bilked several banks and credit card firms out of more than $40,000 over an eight-year period.
Robert Ronconi of LaGrange pleaded guilty in Dutchess County Court to scheming to defraud. He says he used his son's Social Security number to obtain credit cards and loans from several banks, and from a firm that gave him loans to buy two cars. The crimes occurred between 1997 and 2005.
In exchange for his plea, Ronconi was promised a sentence of no more than six months in jail and five years of probation. He must also repay the money he obtained.
