Local Legislator Dies

Ulster County Legislator Philip Terpening collapsed and died last night during a candidates forum in Esopus. Terpening was participating in the event with fellow Democratic Legislator Alan Lomita and other candidates when he went to the back of the room and collapsed. He later died at Kingston Hospital. The 63 year old Terpening was also a former Town of Rosendale supervisor, he was seeking his third term as a District 7 legislator.
