Plane Crashes At Stewart
Tuesday, November 17, 2009

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida man has walked away from the crash of his single-engine airplane with only minor injuries after it flipped over while landing at an upstate New York airport.

Officials say 45-year-old Peter Damigos of Trinity, Fla., was landing his T-18 Thorp at Stewart International Airport late Monday afternoon when he lost control of the aircraft.

Troopers say the plane veered off the runway for about 100 feet before flipping over on soft, muddy ground.

Police say Damigos suffered minor abrasions to his hand.

State police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Stewart is located in Orange County, 55 miles north of New York City.
