BEACON, N.Y. (AP) — A central New York man has admitted killing his wife and then dumping her body in a reservoir 220 miles away in Dutchess County.
Alex Martinez of Clay pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Thursday for killing 21-year-old Angela Harris. He admitted he strangled Harris in their suburban Syracuse apartment on April 18.
Martinez was arrested after he walked into the Beacon Police Department with his infant son in his arms and told police he'd killed his wife. Harris's body was recovered from the Beacon Reservoir in the town of Fishkill.
In exchange for his plea, the 23-year-old Martinez will be sentenced next month to 20 years to life in state prison.
