So this is where you get to dive a little bit in the history of Fuzzy.
I'm sorry.........
It all began in a little town in eastern connecticut called moosup...yup. You pronounce that moose-up. I'd like to say that my 16yrs of catholic school is the true reason of my madness but it's only a small part. The reason for going to catholic school from kindergarten thru college was that the schools were very bad in my town. Most of the kids i grew up with never made it to college and in today's day and age you really have to.
My first job in radio was at Wili 98.3 in willimantic connecticut. A stones throw from Uconn. I got the internship with the help of Mount Saint Mary College. To start the internship was mostly copying and faxing but since it was a small radio station i was able to "sit in" on alot of meetings. That meant just sit down, shut up, and listen. If you are yo hang around a sation long enough some-one will be so busy that you get put to work. Commercials was my first chance to hear myself on-air and it was horrible! I thought to myself WHO WANTS TO HEAR THIS!
Luckly my boss did not feel the same way...close, but not the same. Things moved pretty quiclly after that first commercial. I was given a fill-in opportunity on the sunday morning 6-10am shift, which I proceeded to screw all up by saying a bad word and getting myself suspeneded for 2 weeks. Haven't sworn on-air since.
The fill-in opportunities seemed to just flow that summer with me filling in on mid-day shifts(10-3) and night shifts (7-12). After that summer everytime i came home from college it seemed that there was fill-in work on that station.
After my junior year of college the second I got home on summer break I was thrown into the night guy position where I stayed until the day before I was to leave for my senior year of college. This was a major decision. Stay here and not finish at the Mount finish at a Uconn or leave my night position which will not be available cause they were looking for a full-time replacement.
Well, college won and it's ok cause for my senior project I was able to get a 9 credit internship with WDST 100.1 out of Woodstock. Let me tell you that drive from Newburgh to Woodstock SUCKED and this was back when gas was a third of the price it is today. WDST was great but the drive was too much and after the internship was over they tried to pay me but it just wasn't enough to pay the bills.
Luckly for me thru WDST I was introduced to the guys who own McGilicuddys. By the way I should also telll you that i've been a deejay since I was 13. My first club gig I was 17.
That being said, Cuddy's asked me to deejay after one of the WDST remotes, while i was stilll with WDST, and since I was broke of course I said yes. I deejayed for 3 hours with 12 cd's...still can't figure out how that happened. Ever since that night i've been a part of the Cuddy's family which has grown to include the Mad Hatter and Darby O Gills. You might also remember OutSkirtz...also known as the Atrium...now the Wave. Yeah I was part of that place. It would have been a great place except we had some trouble with some town officials...we'll just leave it at that.
Working for Cuddy's let me be able to voice their commercials for Kissfm and that's where my Kiss career began just like my first internship.
